Cat Power at the Chanel show Paris - Bombay
Photos: Chanel
Cat Power is back. At least she is out in public again. Oh I certainly missed her. Here she is together with Karl Lagerfeld after the show in Paris. And the other photos are from the jewelry campaign she did with Chanel a couple of years ago.

Next lady in our series about Danish singers, their style and musical influences is the talented Anna Brønsted from the band Our Broken Garden.
The Danettes: What is your favourite stage outfit?
Anna: My favorite stage outfit right now is a jumpsuit that a sweet and talented designer named Bodil Damgaard Møller made for me when we were to open the Spot Festival this year in Aarhus domkirke. It has one bare shoulder and fanciful pyramids on the other shoulder and on one hip. I think it's very exotic and makes me feel like going into another world when wearing it.
My all time favorite kind of clothes in general are jumpsuits. I love them! I feel practical and sensual at the same time in those garments : )
TD: Who is your favourite female singer and why?
Anna: My first crush on a lady was Diana Ross. She has such sensuality and strength in her voice. Later it was Kate Bush, courageous as she is in her expression, unaffraid of the unorthodox, powerful and very feminine at the same time. Also canadian folksinger Loreena Mckennit has touched me deeply, her expression is fragile as thin paper yet strong as a sword - and Elisabeth Fraser, who sings as the mermaid itself!
TD: Can you reccomend an artist or a band that our readers might not already know?
Anna: I think most Danes already know the band, but maybe some Berliners still don´t know them: The Late Great Fitzcarraldos. I think they are a really great band with very beautiful male vocals and some touchy songs.
Thank you so much Anna :-)

Here's a glimpse of Darkness Falls concert at Vega Wednesday. I was so impressed with the duo. I love the dark modern melancholic sound!
Josephine was wearing a black leather dress from Stella Nova and I believe Ina was wearing Storm and Marie.

Wondering Video
Next lady up in our series about Danish singers, their style and musical influences is the faboulous Stine Hjelm Jacobsen from Electric Lady Lab.
The Danettes: What is your favourite outfit?
Stine: I am my own stylist and makeup artist and my favourite outfit so far is the one I wear in the video Wondering, in which I succeeded in creating a look that was cool, elegant and edgy at the same time. I am wearing Plateau boots from Pierre Patrick, latex galoshes, high waist latex leggings, ruffle latex shirt and armleggings in latex. All Latex from StrangeLifeforms. The leather jacket is from Barbara I Gongini. That particular look has been an influence on my styling ever since, and I still use elements from that look - but of course I ad new things to the mix.
TD: Thank you so much Stine!

Second lady up in our series about Danish singers, their style and musical influences is Maria Køhnke who is both a solo artist, a vocal producer as well as the first choice of champions when it comes to back up singers (Niels Skousen, Robyn, Nicole Atkins, Er de Sjældne and many more)
1) The Danettes: What is your favourite stage outfit?
My favorite stage outfit is a combination of black and white items I wore at a gig last year. The outfit consists of a vintage silk shirt with a bowtie, a white pencil skirt from a Red Cross charity shop and a pair of two tone tights from Wolford.
2) Who is your favorite female singer and why?
I have always preferred listening to male singers and one of my favorite voices is the voice of Marvin Gaye in the 60's. In the words of David Ritz "Marvin was anguished pleading, unremorsefully romantic".
Especially in the sixties, his expression was light, sweet and yet fueled with despair and to me that kind of dualism makes great art. With his unique timing and dynamics it seemed that he was effortlessly able to create the most expressive and beautiful soundscapes.
3) Can you recomend an artist or a band that our readers might not already know?
The Berlin based Janine Rostron aka Planningtorock. First time I experienced this lady was back in 2007 when she was opening for The Knife. I was completely blown away by her performance! Her one-woman show started with a loud playback of Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet and throughout the set PTR managed to maintain the high level of intensity that characterizes this dramatic piece. I sometimes get a little annoyed by her singing, but I think there's something extremely haunting about her musical productions and visuals and I just love her fearless approach to making music. - For instance not many artists dare to throw in soprano saxophones in semi-dark artsy music. Planningtorock is not afraid :-)
Thank you Maria :-)

Josephine´s favourite outfit on stage by Designers Remix
First songstress up in our series about Danish singers, their style and musical influences is the beautiful Josephine Phillip from Darkness Falls who just released their debutalbum Alive In Us!
The Danettes: What is your favorite stage outfit?
Josephine: My favorite stage outfit is a dress by Designers Remix. It is plated with square black sequins and has a sculptural quality to it that looks really beautiful on stage.
TD: Who is your favorite female singer and why?
Josephine: Uuuuh so many. But an all time favorite whose music I always find myself returning to is Nina Simone. Her voice is enchanting, she sings with a heartbreaking intensity and I love her songs.
TD: Can you recommend an artist or a band that our readers might not already know?
Dirty Beaches is a new band that I think is really fantastic. I don´t know if people already know about him, but he is great. The sound is really trashy and he is a great live performer. So do yourself a favour and check him out if he comes to your hometown.
TD: Thank you Josephine! Check out the music video above for Josephine´s beautiful voice and style!
