Ever since my high school days I have had a passion for photography. That was also the time I discovered the dark room and the birth of photographs among the smell of chemicals.
Over time, different photographers fascinated me with their work, mostly those whose photographs contained darker (heavier) overtones. Having worked as a travel photographer, over the past few years, I have become fascinated with photographs which in them carry a myriad of stories and that I perceive almost as books.
One of these is the British photographer Kristina J, whose photographs carry in them that dreamlike atmosphere similar to that of Virgin Suicides, the film. Her models are not simply models, they are girls/young women of flesh and blood whose radiance is full of emotions, stories from their past and their dreams of a future still to come.
Besides using films as a source of inspiration, Kristina is also inspired by paintings and dreams. What I find interesting and funny is that she is also inspired by commercials/advertisments. As for other photographers, she has been inspired by Mary Ellen Mark, Eugenio Recuenco and Tim Walker.
